What does an x ray Technician Do

An x ray technician photographs internal parts of the body. An x ray technician can operate the machinery and can develop (and usually “read”) the pictures, but is not a doctor. An x ray technician, while possibly able to interpret the image, is not qualified to do so officially. This is something that only a doctor is qualified to do, and only the doctor can offer a diagnosis of the problem to the patient. There is education that is required to become an x ray technician, but we will talk about that in a bit. An x ray technician may be employed at a number of different facilities, including hospitals, medical practices, doctor’s offices, and veterinary offices. An x ray technician is also trained to operate other machines like MRI and ultrasound equipment. Do not forget, however, that the only thing that the x ray technician is trained and qualified to do is to operate the machines.
